
Update A Kitchen Backsplash With Paint
Painting over outdated ceramic tile is a quick and economical way
to update your kitchen.
Supplies and Tools Needed
Degreasing cleanser
Paint primer -- choose one made for slick or shiny surfaces
Gloss or semi-gloss paint (Use the highest quality
paint you can afford)
Polyurethane
Paint brushes, including small ones for grout and corners
Paint roller - small width
Masking tape
Instructions
1. Use a degreasing cleanser to thoroughly wash all the tile to
be painted. Then, thoroughly rinse the surface and allow
it to dry.
2. Tape off cabinet and countertop edges to protect from paint.
3. Apply two coats of primer, allowing the surface to dry between
coats
4. Use high quality paint and begin as you would any paint
job. Cut the edges with a brush. Next, go over the rest with a
sponge roller to give a smooth clean finish. Apply two coats of
paint, allowing the surface to dry between coats.
5. Apply one or two coats of polyurethane to protect your paint
job.
