Pearl: Anti-Aging Magic!
By Danielle McElroy, wibc.com Aesthetician
Springtime means renewal. Where we transition from season to season.
The green comes back from its frozen state, new life is born, and
color comes back to our fashion.
While you enjoy this spring season, don’t forget that your
skin needs to be renewed also. It’s been through a tough winter!
Based on all the abuse skin comes in contact with from environmental
aggressors, stress, and hormonal changes, it’s a wonder how
our skin withstands it all!
Great skincare is an excellent way to ward off free radicals, protect
the skin from future damage, and also to get some minimal exfoliation
to the skin. However, excellent skincare is designed to work synergistically
with our aesthetic treatments.
Step into the spring season with a fresh new look to your skin!
What is the most recent in laser resurfacing technology, where exquisite
skin can be achieved, with very little downtime? The secret to this
anti-aging magic is in the latest laser technology. This newly advanced
treatment is called Pearl.
The treatment is aggressive, in that it addresses many of the concerns
we have with the aging process. These concerns are fine lines, uneven
texture, pigmentation from sun damage, and collagen breakdown. What
does this newly advanced treatment do?
The Pearl procedure removes a safe portion of the epidermis (outermost
layer of the skin) with sufficient heat to produce a coagulation
in the remaining epidermis. This keeps the skin’s natural
healing barrier still intact. The Pearl treatment can remove as
little as 50% of the epidermis all the way up to 100%.
Heat that is left over in the dermis (deeper layer of the skin)
creates new collagen growth. This allows the skin to look younger
and healthier in just a short amount of time.
When the treatment is completed, the skin will feel like you have
a sunburn for about a day. The skin can remain red 4 to 7 days post
treatment.
During the procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied and left
on for about an hour prior to the treatment. The laser procedure
only takes 15 to 20 minutes to treat the entire face!
It is recommended to have two treatments about four to six weeks
apart. The fabulous results of this procedure will last, until naturally,
the aging process begins to take over.
It’s spring break season. This means family, friends, and
relaxation! While your having fun in the sun, please remember that
it is best to be out of the sun, for about a month before undergoing
this procedure. This treatment is not recommended for patients with
rosacea, melasma, darker skin types, patients taking accutane, or
for pregnant women
