My First Blog!

I asked my webmaster Matt Scheidler to add a blog to my webpage for the "Saturday Morning News" show. Hmm...but now, I don't know what to write. I love to write, but feel weird about what I can share. When I am writing the news, it just pours out. But now that I am writing something that has to do with my thoughts, or opinions; I am at a loss of words (somewhere there are people gasping at the very hint that I would ever be speechless).

So, let's talk about the show...

I know, I know; some miss Saturday Morning Open Phones. How could you not with such regular characters as "Southside Larry" and the caller who would always update you and me on how many rental trucks and trailers are on the road? By the way, I hear this coming weekend is just going ...

Joe Ulery is WIBC Assignment Editor. He chooses the stories the news team covers each day. In this role, Joe manages the newsroom each morning.

Beginning in March 2010 he also began hosting The Saturday Morning News from 6-9am.

Joe started at WIBC as a part-time news anchor in 2003, but became a full-time employee in early 2007 and moved to the morning show in October 2007.

A Logansport native, Joe began his radio career in 1989 in his hometown at WSAL-AM and WLHM-FM. He has also worked at radio stations in Peru, Kokomo, and Lafayette.

Joe has won numerous awards for broadcasting, including honors from the Associated Press and Indiana Broadcasters Association. He was awarded 2008 Best Breaking News Coverage in radio by the IBA and won Best Radio Series for his "All Things Green" series on helping our environment.

Joe attended IU Kokomo and continued his Communications Degree at IUPUI. He lives in Lapel.

When not working, Joe spends time playing with his Cocker Spaniels, Gracie and Bentley.
