By the way, keep sending those emails, even if you're cross with me. I can take it.

re: Smokin' Peace Pipes Ruled Illegal in Indian's City???
Some people have a severe and immediate allergic reaction to peanuts. Some will get melanoma from over-exposure to sunlight. Breathing auto exhaust gas can kill you. What should people do? Why they should gather people in political movements to pass laws to ban peanuts, stepping outside in daylight, and automobiles.
If smoking tobacco only was linked to AIDS there would be political activism to demand a cure and treatment be provided by government to those afflicted by the resulting disease and not making the perceived causal factor illegal.
Medical operations can result in terrrible unexpected outcomes. The argument for medical operations is that the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks. At least the patient almost always gets the final say as to whether to acceed to the operation. When bad outcomes occur, it is the patient who truly suffers - not the doctors, not the nurses, not the insurance company employees, not the lawyers, not the judges, not the lawmakers who write laws to protect the doctors, ant not the undertakers. They all benifit.
There are benifits to growing and smoking tobacco. Farmers, cigarette manufacturers, distributors, retailers, advertisers, publishers of advertising, tax collectors, tax spenders, tax spending recipients, excise police, and even anti-smoking zealots all benefit. When "Smoke Free Indy" benificiaries eschew their funding in the way they want to regulate other people's business income, then they might stop being the political hypocrites they claim that they aren't.
I am not a proponent of the many negative aspects of smoking. I am a proponent of freedom. It is astounding to see so many people, and alleged conservatives, so willing to legislate the loss of others freedoms, and all the while claim that they are acting in the best interests of others.
Anti-smoking political zealots will have ready retorts to these points because demagogues do not believe in personal freedom, personal liberty, personal responsibility, nor thinking that doesn't conform to the collectivist mentality of intellectual frauds.

I live in Bloomington and we have been smoke free down here for years, business is as good as its ever been. I also frequent a casino in Illinois that’s smoke free (they have outdoor smoking areas) and it’s just as busy as any of the casinos here in Indiana. The old threat that business will suffer if you ban smoking is absolutely not true, it's just a scare tactic PERIOD. I have a right to clean air regardless of where I am at and I absolutely oppose anyone having the right to negatively affect my health. I quit smoking 9 years ago after smoking at least a pack a day for 25 years. If I can quit so can anyone else or they can go outside away from the non-smokers.
