4 Arrested in Triple Murder Case

Image iconmurder_suspects_051310.jpgMetro Police are holding four suspects in the murders of three people on the northeast side.

Detectives have arrested two brothers 24-year-old Nathaniel and 21-year-old Noah Utley, 22-year-old Troy Williams and 18-year-old Alex Hunt. Lt. Jeff Duhammel says none of the four has any criminal history.

"Very unfortunate--we lost three young individuals," says Duhammel. "Also affected the lives of four other individuals who seemd to have a pretty good background until Monday night."

Nathaniel Utley has been identified as the triggerman. He faces three murder counts. All four are being charged with criminal confinement.

Investigators say the four had gone to the apartment earlier in the day. There was an argument over stolen property. The victims, found shot to death Monday night in the apartment at the Cottages of Fall Creek were 19-year-old Ashley McGaw, 18-year-old Aaron Cawthon, and 20-year-old DeShawn Brooks.

Duhammel gives credit to Special Deputy Gregory McWhitter who lives in the complex.

"He was the one who was on the scene at the first initial fight," says Duhammel. "And he assisted our detectives in putting some of the names out there which helped lead to the suspects and the arrests."
