House Democrats Want Help Impeaching Hill

Three Indiana House Democrats are looking for help in their efforts to remove Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hillfrom office.

State Representatives Ed Delaney, Ryan Dvorak, and Matt Pierce sent a letter to their colleagues last Friday inviting them to join them as co-sponsors of an impeachment resolution against Hill.

Hill was accused of groping several women, including State representative Mara Candelaria Reardon, in a bar at the end of the legislative session last March.   A special prosecutor found there was not enough evidence to prove a charge of wrongdoing against Hill. And a report by the Inspector General said while Hill’s behavior was “creepy and unwelcome” he did not violate any state law.  Hill maintained his innocence throughout the entire ordeal and the filing of civil litigation against him by the women is pending.

In their letter, the three Democrats accuse Hill of lying about the incident and say he tried to “obfuscate and obstruct” the official investigation, but the letter does not explain how.

They say Hill has lost the trust of the public and should no longer be in the office.

Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma basically threw cold water on the idea of impeaching Hill when he told reporters back in November that such proceedings be would be an “unneeded distraction” as lawmakers tried to work on other issues and impeachment would be the only matter they worked on this session.

A copy of the letter is below.
