Actor Richard Gere is rumored to be considering a run for Congress, according to a recent article in Page Six.
God help us.
The current representative of the 18th Congressional District, Sean Patrick Maloney, is running in September’s Democratic primary for state attorney general and, if he’s successful, his House seat would be open.
The 68-year-old Gere, who lives in Pound Ridge, Westchester, within the district, is being talked up in Democratic circles as a possible replacement for Maloney.
WIBC hosts The Chicks on the Right think Richard Gere should stick to movies - the ones he's already made:
"He was so hot in 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and now he is so very much not that guy. He just needs to not become a politician.
...He's 68 and he's about to become a father again.
"Why are they even bringing his name up to begin with? We don't need more liberal actors who think they know something about policy."
"Richard, for the love of God, don't run! Let us remember you when you were hot - not old and spouting liberal nonsense."
