UnCooped: Tinder for Dogs!
"Hello, I am an adorable dog. If you like me, swipe left."
Animal lovers in Lithuania have created a mobile app inspired by the popular dating app Tinder to match up dogs in local shelters with new owners.
Called GetPet, the app was launched last month and is already taking off, leading to new adoptions daily. It joins a growing market of apps for people looking to adopt a pet, including PawsLikeMe and BarkBuddy.
“It is like Tinder, but with dogs,” said Vaidas Gecevicius, one of app’s creators. “You can arrange a meeting with the dog — a date."
"Now this is sort of a like a U.S. site called 'Paws Like Me' where you have to take a quiz - like eHarmony. I'm halfway through it and it's asking questions like, 'I am a couch potato. Agree or disagree?' Like that sort of crap. And it's a pretty long quiz, so they're very particular."
"And when you get to the site, it immediately asks you if you want a dog or cat. Unfortunately, dogs can't swipe back. So it's not like the dog can look at your photo and decide you look like a creepster."
"And this is what's weird about this to me. I'm the kind of person that believes when you adopt a dog, there needs to be some kind of connection. So that's the only thing about these online apps that I don't like."
