Adam Sandler’s triumphant return to Saturday Night Live included the performance of an emotional and touching tribute to his friend, Chris Farley, who died of a drug overdose in December of 1997.

Sandler delivered a song that highlighted some of Farley’s memorable characters and sketches on SNL and shared personal memories of their friendship and ultimately, remembrances of Farley’s memorial service.

The song originally debuted as the climax of Sandler’s Netflix stand-up special, “100{b738c8d81c72d45da79d596f76991eeb044315dc3b27bc6668899a5a04085174} Fresh.”

Sandler revealed during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show Monday that he wasn’t fully emotionally prepared to deliver the song Saturday night.

“It was scheduled, but it kind of got sprung on me quick,” Sandler told Patrick. “I had to mentally get ready because when I was singing the Farley song in the studio in rehearsals, I kept getting really upset because I loved just being in 8H — the studio. It was making me upset.”

The Chicks on the Right discussed Sandler’s emotional tribute and why some morons are calling it “creepy” in the clip below:
