James Lipton, producer, writer and longtime host of “Inside the Actors Studio” died on Monday at his New York City home of bladder cancer at the age of 93.

“There are so many James Lipton stories but I’m sure he would like to be remembered as someone who loved what he did and had tremendous respect for all the people he worked with,” his wife, Kedakai Turner, told TMZ on Monday.

“Inside the Actors Studio” ran for 23 years on Bravo and earned a total of 20 Emmy nominations. Lipton stepped down from hosting in September 2018 when the series moved to Ovation TV.

Lipton also made appearances on “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Arrested Development” and “Glee.” He first broke into the TV industry by writing and acting in soap operas. He spent 10 years on “The Guiding Light.”

Viewers of “Inside the Actors Studio” grew familiar with Lipton’s list of questions, which he posed to each of his guests at the end of an interview. Lipton credited the questions to French talk show host Bernard Pivot, who hosted Apostrophes from 1975–1990 and Bouillon de Culture from 1990–200

In tribute to Lipton, the Chicks on the Right and Producer Rob answered the questionnaire in a stirring and emotionally poignant round of “Inside the COTR Studio.”
