Three brothers were hospitalized last week after getting a black widow spider to bite them in hopes they would gain Spider-Man like powers.

The Bolivarian siblings — aged 8, 10, 12, and all destined to be mercilessly bullied by their peers – found the spider while herding goats in Chayanta, a Ministry of Health official told Telemundo.

Thinking it would give them superhero powers, they prodded it with a stick until it bit each of them in turn, said the official, Virgilio Pietro.

The boys did not gain superpowers as the vicious spider munched into their flesh; however, they did manage to cry and wet themselves like famed “drink-and-wet” doll, “Betsy Wetsy,” as seen in this heartwarming ad from the 1950s:

Mom overheard her children crying and, ignoring feelings of uncontrollable shame that these Peter Parker wannabes came out of her own body, she rushed them to a nearby health center, which transferred them to a nearby hospital.

The boys were ultimately taken to a third hospital in La Paz the next day with fevers, tremors, and muscle pains, but no superpowers, according to Telemundo.

Don’t worry; the kids are fine and have since been discharged and sent home in shame. Granted, the fact that they were to three different hospitals means they were more than likely exposed to the COVID-19 virus multiple times. But hey, at least they won’t die from spider bites.

Fun Fact: With venom 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake’s, black widows are one of the most feared spiders in the world, and the most venomous in North America, according to National Geographic.

Prediction: The “Black Widow Challenge” is destined to become the next social media craze to claim hundreds of innocent lives.

Feminist Fact: Even women who have served in combat are afraid to kill a spider.
