When it comes to political discourse on the topic of systemic racism, Democrats will frequently steer the conversation to the postulation of ‘white privilege’ – a belief that white people have an inherent advantage in American society by virtue of the color of their skin.

Conversely, Republicans will generally become angry at the mere utterance of the term itself.

As it turns out, some of the controversy surrounding this issue might be rooted in our definitions of the phrase.

So what exactly IS ‘white privilege?’
