Inaugural "Indy Shorts" International Film Fest Begins This Week

Heartland Film is bringing the first ever "Short Film" festival to Indy, beginning July 26th at Newfields.  Christiana Beasley the Events Manager at Heartland, and local filmmaker Sam Miro stopped by The First Day, with details on what's being predicted to be the largest short film festival in the midwest!

Nearly 2,000 short films were submitted and 111 were selected.  IUPUI grad and Emmy Award nonimated filmmaker Sam Miro is the Director of "Milktooth:  A Fine Diner" and also Producer of "Destination Park", both in the Indiana Spotlight Program.   Sam's first feature full length film was on homelessness.  The film was screened by President Obama's staff from the Dept. of Justice and HUD.  The 1st Homeless Bill of Rights at the city level was created from inspiration by the film.  

Indy Shorts International Film Festival begins on July 26th and goes through the 29th, with screenings, parties, meet & greets with filmmakers and workshops .  Click for HERE for a complete schedule.
