Opening Weekend for Some of Indy’s Favorite Holiday Traditions

Get into the holiday spirit a little early!  The Festival of Trees, Jolly Days, Christmas at the Zoo, Winterlights at Newfields and the Eiteljorg’s Jingle Rails are all open this weekend!

FRIDAY, Nov. 20th

 

INDIANA HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S FESTIVAL OF TREES

10am|Indiana History Center

Get into the holiday spirit a little early with The Festival of Trees, featuring 50 gorgeous trees decorated to represent individuals, families and organizations from around Indiana.

CHRISTMAS NIGHTS OF LIGHTS

5pm|Indiana State Fairgrounds

Indy’s largest synchronized light show!  Over 1 million lights and music played through your car stereo. Dusk to 10pm with extended hours on weekends.  Goes through Jan. 3rd.  $7 per person/$30 per car.

MIDNIGHT SHOPPER – A SIP & STROLL EVENT

6pm|Mass Ave Arts District – Downtown Indy

Support local as the unique shops along Mass Ave stay open late.  RSVP and signup for timed entry into the busiest shops, guaranteeing no wait time as each store maintains a safe capacity.

7pm|Virtual

Presented by Eskenazi Health. This year the event is FREE for everyone via livestream.  Sit back and enjoy great local musicians as they perform iconic One-Hit Wonders.  Benefits Second Helpings.

A favorite family holiday tradition!  A G-scale model train wonderland with 9 working model trains featuring miniature versions of local treasures of downtown Indy. RESERVED TIMED TICKETS REQUIRED.

Opening Day!  Enjoy favorites like Jingles the Jolly Bear & visits with Santa. No Yule Slide this year.  Ice Skate in your socks, explore the Ice Castle and meet Jolly Days characters. Free with admission.

NEWFIELD’S “WINTERLIGHTS”

5pm|Newfields

Winterlights returns for a 3rd year, quickly becoming a holiday tradition in Central Indiana.  Stroll through the Winter Wonderland, sip apple cider and make s’mores over a fire pit. $13-$25.

THE 52nd ANNUAL CHRISTMAS AT THE ZOO

5pm|Indianapolis Zoo

Besides the spectacular light show, Santa’s Village is one of their newest additions. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  See Santa’s sleigh and a few reindeer. The Penguin Encounter is open and more!
