Beto O'Rourke has made it official and annoucned his candidacy for President in 2020 ('Cause why the hell not? Everyone else is running).
Beto - the "so f***ing proud of you guys" dude - made his announcement via a brief video on Twitter.
I am running to serve you as the next president. The challenges we face are the greatest in living memory. No one person can meet them on their own. Only this country can do that, and only if we build a movement that includes all of us. Say you're in: https://t.co/EKLdkVET2u pic.twitter.com/lainXyvG2n— Beto O'Rourke (@BetoORourke) March 14, 2019
In that video, O'Rourke and his wife, Amy, sit on a couch as O'Rourke explains why he is running for president and embarking on the "greatest grass-roots campaign this country has ever seen."
Gesticulating throughout the video, he called this a moment of "maximum peril and maximum potential."
The tweet included a link to his website, with portals for donations (gotta tap into those grass roots somehow!), a store selling BETO for AMERICA lawn signs and T-shirts, and a listing for jobs.
According to Hammer and Nigel, O'Rourke actually has one advantage over his many democrat competitors.
"He can fundraise like no one else. Money won't be a problem - especially since he's already loaded. Beto married him a sugar momma and they've got some major cash. A lot of people don't realize that they've got around $10 million dollars in the account.
"It might be more than that - nobody really knows the exact amount. His wife, Amy, had a father who was a Texas real estate magnet. By some estimates, he was worth as much as a billion dollars. But yeah, they've got an extremely large bank account."
