Deep Thoughts with Dr. Phil McGraw: Thinker of Thoughts

Dr. Phil: Smoking Weed Makes You Violent and Lowers Your I.Q.

Dr. Phil McGraw is much more than an unlicensed psychologist who masquerades as a licensed psychologist on television; he's a thinker! He's a thinker with thoughts and opinions all his own!

For example, Dr. Phil McGraw, unlicensed psychologist and Oprah VIP, has deeply thoughtful thoughts and opinions on smoking doobies: it's not a good thing to do!

Spoken words of Dr. Phil, thinker of thoughts: "Your brain grows until you’re 25 at least and it’s constantly changing. When you get to be 18, 19, 20, it’s actually pruning itself back. When you smoke marijuana it’s like opening your computer up and pouring water inside, a lot of things short out and it connects where it’s not supposed to and really creates problems.”

Spoken response by Michael Verbora, a doctor with Aleafia Total Health Network, which helps Canadians access medical cannabis (quote courtesy of Vice)“Pouring water into a computer would destroy the computer and kill all the connections. Weed relaxes some of the chemicals secreted by the brain that cause anxiety or pain, but there is no evidence that any type of rewiring is taking place."

Spoken response by David Juurlink, head of clinical pharmacology and toxicology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center (quote courtesy of Vice)“It’s ludicrous to equate smoking cannabis with pouring water on a computer. Maybe Dr. Phil should redirect hyperbole to alcohol, tobacco, opioids, and benzos, all of which are considerably more harmful, as is exploiting your troubled preteen on national television.”

Okay, so Dr. Phil, thinker of thoughts, thoughts on marijuana aren't as thoughtful as we initially thought. That said, the good and thoughtful Doc has offered his thoughts on other matters over the years, and the fine people of The Hammer and Nigel Show are happy to share those thoughtful thoughts with you in the clip below. Isn't that thoughtful of them?
