Evidence of Hazardous Toxins Found at Former Franklin Plant
An ex worker at the former Franklin Power Products plant on Forsythe Street has come forward with disturbing allegations after the Indiana Department of Environmental Management confirmed the discovery of toxic contamination in the soil and groundwater at the site.
"Most of the incidents that I saw, I remember them like they were yesterday," Steve Brummett told WTHR in Indianapolis. Brummett revealed he worked in "tear down" for 14-years taking old diesel engines apart for re-manufacturing.
"That's where all the dirty things happened," said Brummet.
"What led me to come forward was hearing about the children suffering and knowing full well what happened," he explained, referring to the dozens of children diagnosed with cancer in Franklin.
WTHR also revealed the discovery of new enforcement letters sent to two companies that previously operated at the same site putting the companies on notice of liability for PCE and TCE contamination. In addition, the notices requested further information about spills and other prior releases.
WIBC hosts Hammer and Nigel spoke with Stacie Davidson and Kari Rhinehart from "If It Was Your Child" in Franklin, Indiana Friday about the revelations in the report from WTHR and the findings of The Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
