The Indiana House passed its version of a casino bill on Monday, 78-15; however, several legislators have voiced objections and demanded changes in a final version.

WIBC political correspondent Eric Berman told WIBC hosts Jason Hammer and Rob Kendall that some legislators object to a $50-million fee for moving Gary’s casino from Lake Michigan to downtown, while others want to restore a provision from the Senate version of the bill, which would authorize live dealers at the racetrack casinos.

Berman said it was difficult to predict whether House and Senate negotiators would be able to come to an agreement on a final version of the bill.

“It is not a sure thing because there are lots of disagreements, and what really makes it difficult is that there are several different pieces of the bill that different legislators have a problem with,” said Berman.

“I think there is a desire to get it done,” he continued, “and in all likelihood, I think it does get done.”

House and Senate negotiators have until next week to agree on a final version and get it through both chambers.
