Husband with Dementia Proposes, Marries Wife a Second Time
Trigger Warning: This one's a tear-jerker...
While vow renewals are relatively common reaffirmations of a couple's enduring love for one another, they don't usually strike much of an emotional chord for anyone outside of the couple, their family, and friends. But they also don't usually occur between a couple whose relationship has been cruelly interrupted by the onset of dementia.
According to Daily Mail, one Scottish woman has revealed that she and her husband, who suffers from dementia, have remarried after he popped the question last week, wanting to spend the rest of his life with his "new girlfriend."
The couple conducted a small ceremony in their garden two days later, with Anne calling the special day 'wonderful'.
Explaining her husband's illness, she said: "My wonderful husband of 12 years, Bill, told me that he wanted to marry me. Now, as most of you reading this will know, Bill has been living with dementia for nine years."
She said she was "really touche" when Bill told her that he "really really liked me and wanted to be with me forever."
"Bill doesn’t use many words now and finds it hard to express himself, but I got lots of kisses and hugs as I accepted his proposal."
