Mainstream media outlets are sporting a collective blue-veiner Thursday, after Donald Trump issued a tweet that the brain trust at CNN, Huffington Post, and MSNBC interpreted as an admission by the President that Russia helped him to secure the White House in the 2016 election.
Here is what Trump originally tweeted:
"Russia, Russia, Russia! That's all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax...And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected. It was a crime that didn't exist."
Trump immediately deleted the tweet and then he issued the following tweet:
Russia, Russia, Russia! That’s all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax...And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected. It was a crime that didn’t exist. So now the Dems and their partner, the Fake News Media,.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 30, 2019
Why did Trump delete and reissue the initial tweet? A typo. Specifically, he changed "false acquisition" to "false accusation."
It was the "I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected." portion of Trump's tweet that prompted left-wing media outlets to spontaneously begin singing the "Hallelujah" chorus and run with wall-to-wall coverage of Trump's alleged admission that Russia got him elected.
"I'm pretty much over trying to get into the President's head, but it looks like what he should have said was I had nothing to do with Russia TRYING to get me elected."
"I don't think what he said is anything shocking. Russia DID try to get him elected, but it had nothing to do with [Trump]. Now there are some of his people that no one gives a rat's ass about who might have had some kind of hand involved in this, but when it comes to number 45; when it comes to the orange guy, they got nothing on him right now.
So what he said isn't anything earth shattering. Russia did help him to get elected."
"If you believe that people were influenced by fake Facebook videos."
"You mean there weren't people at the polls with shotguns? Because that's what I heard. I heard if you showed up at the polls and didn't vote for Donald Trump, you were going to be shot execution style."
