Digital Underground rapper ‘Shock G’ reportedly died from an accidental overdose involving the opioid fentanyl.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner later determined the rapper, born Gregory Jacobs, had a deadly mix of fentanyl, alcohol, and methamphetamine in his system, TMZ.com reported Thursday.

Jacobs, who rose to fame with the 1990 hit “Humpty Dance” was found unresponsive in a hotel room in Tampa on April 22.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more powerful than morphine. The narcotic has been linked to several high-profile deaths in the music world, including the accidental deaths of Prince, Tom Petty, Mac Miller, and Bobby Brown’s son, Bobby Brown Jr.

Drugs coming across the southern border are fueling an unprecedented epidemic across the U.S. that continues to worsen.

In the last year alone, fentanyl seizures have jumped over 800% in Texas, according to a report by CBS News.

Last month, ABC News reported that Customs and Border Protection has seized more fentanyl from January through April of 2021 than all of 2020.

Fentanyl seizures have been increasing since 2018.
