Tributes continue to pour in from around the world for comedian Norm Macdonald who passed away Tuesday at the age of 61 following a private battle with cancer.

“He was so unique and so beloved by other comics,” comedian Scott Long told the Hammer and Nigel Show Wednesday. “There truly was no one else like Norm Macdonald.”

Long said one of the things that set Macdonald apart from his contemporaries was that he was uncompromising in his commitment to his vision.

“He was like that his whole career,” said Long. “Norm ended up getting fired from Saturday Night Live because NBC executive Don Olhmeyer and Lorne Michaels wanted him to lay off OJ Simpson and he wouldn’t do it,” he recalled.

Long also credited Macdonald for being at the forefront of the battle against political correctness and ‘wokeism.’

“When Roseanne got fired from her show, when Louis C.K. had his career destroyed, Norm had the courage to challenge and question publically,” said Long. “So to lose someone who stood up for comedy first and damn the consequences, that’s devastating.”
