A woman in Michigan named Laura Spears was looking through her spam folder for a missing email from a friend. In the process, she came across a notification that she was now a multi-millionaire.
No, Spears isn’t the descendant of a rich Nigerian prince. Actually, we can’t say that conclusively. But the reason she’s a multi-millionaire is that she won the Michigan state lottery and didn’t even know it!
Spears says she purchased a Mega Millions ticket on the Michigan Lottery website for a drawing three weeks ago. She matched five numbers to win $1 million, AND she had the “Megaplier” to multiply her prize by three.
Total winnings: $3 million!
For you kids who don’t remember, $3 million dollars was a lot of money in the days before Biden assumed the presidency. Spears would have been set for life, but with taxes and an annual inflation rate running near double digits, she could still wind up eating cat food in her senior years. Thank goodness she can count on social security.
