John King is a 77-year-old veteran from Michigan, and he’s no snowflake. He survived polio as a kid has now kicked coronavirus in the teeth – TWICE.
How does a senior citizen with a compromised immune system survive two bouts against a disease that shut down the entire global economy? How did he do it?
For starters, John King was born before the year 1980 – a distinct advantage when facing any challenge in life.
As a child, John didn’t get a trophy if he didn’t earn it.
As an adult, he didn’t “feel” entitled to a job that was fulfilling – he just needed to pay his bills and put food on the table.
And chances are, John never lost a single night’s sleep because he was worried about his carbon footprint. If John lost sleep, it was because he was behind enemy lines and getting grenades tossed at his head.
Yes, John is what we used to refer to in this country as a “man.”
John didn’t catch Polio as a child because “vaccines are evil Bill Gates’ plan for a new world order” and “natural immunity is best.” John caught polio because the polio vaccine didn’t exist yet!
John didn’t contract COVID-19 because he “went to a Coronavirus party” or was marching in the streets for racial justice in the middle of a deadly pandemic. He contracted the disease AGAINST HIS WILL when the pandemic began. Then John caught it a second time while being treated at a V.A. hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan!
When John was told by the doctors that he might not make it, he didn’t burst into tears and reach for his emotional support squirrel. John looked the doctors in the eye and told them to “Get the hell away from me.”
