The City of Orlando, Florida is deeply sorry, America. They’re sorry for how very very much their residents suck at driving. They’re sorry for blaming “unfair referees” for the fact that the Orlando Magic has never won an NBA championship. And most recently, they’re sorry for issuing the following statement at the beginning of the July 4th weekend:

“A lot of people probably don’t want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can’t blame them. When there is so much division, hate, and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?”

“But in all seriousness, you know in your heart, Fourth of July fireworks are amazing, especially when you are standing in 90° heat, 100% humidity, next to 100,000 of your closest friends,” the city added. “In that moment, something takes over and we all become united in an inexplicable bond.”

“Yes, America is in strife right now, but you know what…we already bought the fireworks.”

Yeah. That didn’t go over well with folks.

Christina Pushaw, the spokesperson for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, was one of the first to call the city out for its woke messaging on July 4th weekend.

The local police union also called out the message, issuing a statement that called the City’s comments “inflammatory” and “in poor taste,” reports Newsweek.

The City apologized the following day, saying it “sincerely regrets” the message’s “negative impact.”

What would anyone want to celebrate America on the Fourth of July? Golly, maybe we should ask those folks who are risking their lives in a rubber raft in hopes of making it to the U.S. for a better life.
