A John McCain biopic is in the works, and Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of “The View” thinks she’d be the perfect choice to portray the late Senator.

McCain, an American hero who single-handedly destroyed all hopes of repealing “Obamacare,” (Thanks a million, Johnny).

Stampede Ventures has optioned rights to “The Luckiest Man: Life With John McCain,” a biography written by the late Arizona senator’s political adviser and friend Mark Salter, and plans to adapt it into a feature film, according to Variety.

The late Senators family is supporting the film, with “Thumbs Down McCain’s” widow, Cindy McCain, acting as executive producer.

“John’s story is one of incredible heroism, of serving causes greater than his own self-interest,” Cindy McCain said in a statement. “There is no better time to tell it. I’m excited to share his life and legacy, and know this film will be a tremendous inspiration to people all over the world.”

Tip to Stampede Ventures: Release the film on the same weekend as “Top Gun: Maverick.” That way you can tell bankrupt investors that it was competition from Tom Cruise that resulted in selling fewer tickets opening weekend than Ben Affleck and Jay-lo’s “Gigli,” which raked in $3,753,518 on a budget of $75.6 million. Trust us, it will be far less embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, Whoopi Goldberg legitimately wants to play the late Senator McCain.

Goldberg made the suggestion to Cindy McCain during her appearance on “The View” on Thursday.

“Oh good,” McCain said.

“I like that,” Meghan McCain said agreeably. “You have the family endorsement, Whoopi.”
