Consider the matter of Alec Baldwin’s little “oopsie” on the New Mexico set of “Rust” in October.
Baldwin, a beloved wad of narcissism and self-delusion, now claims he didn’t actually pull the trigger on the gun that shot and killed his director of photography, Halyna Hutchins.
Yes, Baldwin failed to follow on-set protocol and double-check that the gun he was holding was unloaded.
Yes, Baldwin pointed the gun DIRECTLY at Hutchins just prior to it going “bang!”
But Alec Baldwin DID NOT actually pull the trigger on the gun immediately after declaring, “I guess I’m gonna take this out, pull it, and go, ‘Bang!’” That just would have been completely irresponsible!
“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin told ABC News in a sit-down interview. “I would never point a gun at anyone and then pull the trigger, never.”
Baldwin was later asked by George Stephanopoulos if the shooting was the worst thing that had ever happened to him. The actor said yes, “because I think back and I think, what could I have done?”
