Happy Earth Day! Also, the founder of Earth Day is dead!

Isn’t it neat when things work out like that? No coincidences in this life. You hear something cool like, “Hey! The guy who founded Earth Day died on Earth Day,” and you can’t help but feel like there really is a master plan with a Creator in charge of everything that happens in the universe. Take comfort in that.

The guy’s name was Ira Einhorn, which has a nice sound to it, but it wasn’t his stage name. His stage name was “The Unicorn Killer,” which is really odd because he never killed any unicorns according to our lack of research.

He did, however, kill his girlfriend in the 1970s, which tends to really taint a fella’s image. It’s all well and good to be ‘earth friendly’ and such, but going to jail for first-degree murder really puts people off. In fact, we’d be willing to bet it’s every bit as offensive to militant environmentalists as not recycling your soda cans.

Anyway, Ira killed his girlfriend and founded Earth Day. Now he’s dead. He was 79.

Here’s a picture of him before he was dead:

Whoa! Did you notice how much he looks like “Uncle Jesse” from “The Dukes Of Hazzard?” I know it’s just one picture, but that’s uncanny.

Earth Day Trivia: Earth Day Founder Ira Einhorn composted his girlfriend after he killed her. That’s not a nice thing to do, but he did legitimately walk the talk on the environmental stuff.

Seriously, I’ve never met a single person in my life named “Ira.” I do have an IRA, which is something I really feel everyone should have – even if you’re saving through a 401K or have a pension. You can never save too much for retirement.

Happy Earth Day.

Oh, Ira didn’t really die on Earth Day. It turns out he died last Friday. Sorry for the error, but it just made a much better story. Also, he died last year, but this seemed like the kind of thing worth revisiting with it being Earth Day and all. Just put all your #FakeNews complaints in the Facebook feed.
