Long-time To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen is back!
The investigative journalist and former Dateline NBC contributor called into the Mock n’ Rob Show Wednesday to discuss his emotionally-stunning three-part limited series Onision: In Real Life, currently streaming on discovery +.
The series tells the story of Greg Jackson, who created the persona of “Onision” and gained more than 2 million followers on YouTube with his controversial videos.
“Onision” came to the attention of Chris Hansen after multiple young women came forward with allegations that the YouTube star was involved in grooming underage girls.
“[Jackson] created this persona on YouTube where he was this sympathetic ear for young women who were going through difficulties, growing pains – teen women and teen guys alike,” Hansen told the Mock n’ Rob Show. “And ultimately, this following grew into what was essentially a pool for him to draft young women on whom he could prey in some cases.”
Hansen said his investigation ultimately evolved into a very graphic story of abuse and exploitation of women at the hands of Jackson and his spouse.
“So as a result of my To Catch a Predator series [on YouTube], I was approached and asked to look into this guy, and it exploded into a major investigation,” said Hansen.
