New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose policies arguably led to tens of thousands of deaths, a surge in unemployment claims, and economic devastation is in his state was set to receive a hefty $25,000 bump in pay for 2021.  After much thought and reflection, however (code for public outrage), America’s #1 elderly eliminator has decided to defer his raise.

Quite a generous sacrifice on Cuomo’s behalf considering his current salary is a measly $225,000 per year, which makes him one of the highest-paid governors in the United States.

Cuomo announced his decision Wednesday during a briefing with reporters in Albany.

Based on the current dismal economic climate under Cuomo’s leadership, the New York State Salary Commission recommended last week that pay increases for state judges, state legislators, and members of the executive branch be withheld for the next four years.

“The [New York State] Department of Budget has predicted that the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to cause a $60.5 billion loss through the 2024 [fiscal year],” the report stated, adding that an 11.4 percent unemployment rate is expected to be the short-term average.

“Granting raises to public servants, no matter how much they might otherwise deserve them, is simply not possible at this time,” the report concludes.

Wednesday’s press conference with the New York Governor also featured a glorious moment with Cuomo losing his mind when a reporter asked him a question he didn’t like.
