Attention former Congressman Doug Collins (R) of the great state of Georgia: You just (CENSORED BY MANAGEMENT) the Republican party with your “brilliant” decision to give up your seat in the House of Representatives and embark on a campaign for the U.S. Senate that was doomed from the start.
Yes, “Helpful Doug Collins” has officially conceded, putting Republican Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock into a runoff election because no contender received a share of votes exceeding 50 percent.
Loeffler was appointed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp to fill Sen. Johnny Isakson’s seat when he retired last year and likely would have won her seat had “Helpful Doug Collins” stayed in the House of Representatives and campaigned on her behalf.

Here’s How Doug Collins ruined everything:
Georgia is screwed up and allows a ridiculous number of candidates to run. Loeffler could have used that to her advantage because the votes for Democrat contenders running for the seat were widely dispersed.
According to Tuesday’s election results, the top three contenders running for the Senate seat currently held by Loeffler were Democrat Raphael Warnock (32.1%), Republican Kelly Loeffler (26.3%), and Republican “Helpful Doug Collins” (20.3%).
Could Loeffler have garnered enough support to surpass 50% of the vote had Collins stayed out of the race? The combined totals for Loeffler and Collins add up to 46.6% of the vote, so it was certainly possible.
Now Loeffler and Democrat Warnock are headed to a runoff election. In theory, Loeffler has another chance to retain her seat, but Warnock’s odds are much more in his favor now that the other Democrat challengers are out of the picture.

Fortunately, Republican Andrew Clyde defeated Democrat Devin Pandy in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, the seat previously held by Doug Collins, so it could all shake out okay in the end.
Further, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp appointed Kelly Loeffler to Sen. Johnny Isakson’s – not Georgia voters.
According to Rob Kendall, Collins had a duty to give up his seat and run for Senate if he genuinely believed he was better qualified to fill former Sen Isakson’s seat than Loeffler.
