Noblesville parent Emilie Nimtz is pushing back against “Critical Race Theory” being taught in her local school district.

Critical race theory (CRT) is a controversial academic movement that is rooted in the principle that systemic racism exists and “transforming the relationship between law and racial power” is the key to emancipation.

The teaching of Critical Race Theory in public schools is an increasingly common practice.

That’s a reality that doesn’t sit well with Nimtz, a Hispanic mother to two biracial children, who spoke of her concerns during an appearance on the Mock n’ Rob Show Thursday.

“I had no idea that this was being taught at my child’s school until I discovered it on their website,” explained Nimtz. “And the link that really bothered me was titled ‘race and police violence,’ as though the two are synonymous.”

As the widow of a fallen police officer, Nimtz was extremely offended at the implication that the law enforcement community is inherently racist.

Nimtz told the Mock N’ Rob Show that she expressed her concerns in a letter to the Superintendent of Noblesville Schools.

“She did reply and said she’d be happy to set up a Zoom or in-person meeting with me, which we tentatively have scheduled for next Friday,” Nimtz said. “But I don’t feel entirely confident that this is going to have much of an impact because even if I do manage to get the Superintendent to drop this from the curriculum, this is something that is being taught at most of the schools [in the Indianapolis area].”

Nimtz advised other parents to be more proactive, examine the curriculums of their local schools, and fight back against CRT being taught to their children.

“We need to speak up. We can’t be the silent majority,” said Nimtz. “We have to make our voices heard and take a stand against this.”
