Saturday Night On The Circle
Rep. Ilhan Omar Lies to Schoolchildren-- Gets Caught
(Tom Williams/CQ Roll Call)
This week Representative Omar was invited to speak to an auditorium filled with High School students-- an event to which she arrived a half hour late, costing the students their lunch. This however, was not to be the headline of the event. During her speech she told the students of how she screamed "BULLS--T" in a courtroom that put a "sweet, old … African American lady" in jail for the weekend for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her starving grandchild-- this as it turns out, was a lie. Does the Congresswoman have no shame?
Jeffery Epstein, shameless serial sexual abuser and sex trafficker of minors, finally faces the long arm of the law for his crimes as New York brings a litany of charges against the billionaire from which he is unlikely to escape. The media however has buried the lead, instead of focusing on Epstein's associates who may potentially have joined him in his extensive legacy of predatory behavior they cast their scorn to one of Epstein's prosecutors of more than a decade ago-- now the former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta. But is this criticism really justified?
Lastly, we discuss Amy McGrath who has launched her campaign against "The Turtle" Mitch McConnell in the 2020 election. She discussed in an interview that despite her partisan objections to Cavanaugh’s political philosophy, she saw no objection in his judicial record that would have prevented her from voting to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, were she to have voted during that process. This was immediately met with disdain from the party machine that caused her to wilt and apologize for, presumably her honest opinion, within hours after having said it. Does this demonstrate a serious desire to represent the residents of Kentucky? Listen to this week’s episode of Saturday Night on the Circle to join in on these discussions and more!
