The American Academy of Pediatrics is pushing for all children over the age of 2 to wear masks when returning to school, regardless of vaccination status.

In the press release the AAP say it should be a priority to get children back in the classroom, but it should be done with precautions.

“We need to prioritize getting children back into schools alongside their friends and their teachers — and we all play a role in making sure it happens safely,” said Sonja O’Leary, chair of the AAP Council on School Health. “Combining layers of protection that include vaccinations, masking and clean hands hygiene will make in-person learning safe and possible for everyone.”

Tony Katz says once again these ‘recommendations’ come with little to no scientific evidence that mask mandates work at all.

“You have no science on masks, you have no data on masks, I’m not sending my children to school in a mask…We’ve been through this horror.”

As schools begin their fall semester, Katz says it’s important for parents to be prepared for this. Now the question is what will parents really do about it?

“Enough of your fear-mongering…The delta variant, yes it’s real, but we’ve done enough to shut down society. This IS a fight. And these people who are desperate to continue this shut-down mentality are wrong…

Instead of trying to change the mind of someone who might be skeptical they keep throwing this at you from these positions on high -that somehow they know best and you’re just a damn fool. You’re not a fool.”

He encourages parents to not doubt their own reasonings and to vocalize concerns to administrations pushing another semester of mask mandates.

The CDC has recommended vaccinated students do not have to wear masks indoors.

The American Academy of Pediatrics is an organization of 67,000 primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgical specialists.
