When President Donald Trump credited his travel bans last year in the battle against the Coronavirus pandemic, the mainstream press and then-candidate Joe Biden accused Trump of “xenophobia.”

Now, however, it appears that President Biden is all-in on travel restrictions.

House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s office was the first to note Biden’s change of heart after it was reported Monday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is imposing a new restriction on travelers from South Africa.

“Has President Biden changed his mind on the efficacy of coronavirus entry bans?” McCarthy’s office asked. “Or are entry bans still ‘xenophobic fear-mongering’? Which is it? The American people deserve to know.”

Fox News’ Peter Doocy then confronted White House press secretary Jen Psaki about the new travel restrictions.

“The president has been clear that he felt the Muslim ban was xenophobic,” Psaki replied.

“He overturned the Muslim ban. He also, though, has supported steps, travel restrictions in order to keep the American people safe, to ensure that we are getting the pandemic under control. That’s been part of his policy, but he was critical of the former president for having a policy that was not more comprehensive than travel restrictions.”

We at the Tony Katz Institute for Accuracy and Fairness rate White House press secretary Jen Psaki as follows: “100% Fresh Indiana Cow Dung.”

Incidentally, President Biden has also been actively moving the goalposts on his estimates for the distribution of the Coronavirus vaccine to the American people.

Tony Katz tackles Biden’s newly-adopted less-than-optimistic projections in today’s Popcorn Moment.
