TIMBER. CNN’s ratings continue to drop as their total day viewership is down 70%.
Nielsen Media Research reports CNN’s primetime viewers at the beginning of the year was roughly around 798,000 people and 530,000 total day viewers. Now the network is seeing no more than 229,000 primetime viewers with 152,000 total day viewers.
Translation: That’s pretty awful.
So what’s causing it? Tony Katz says without Trump to dump on, CNN is a mess. After January 6th, the Inauguration, and Covid vaccines out Katz wonders if America has realized that the network just isn’t a true news source.
“Is it possible because Trump kept everybody on edge or at least allowed these networks to keep everyone on edge because of him? And therefore everybody had to tune in to see what crazy thing he did today.
Is it because people realize this isn’t news? This is, I’m not sure what it is, but it’s not news. You can’t trust them.”
FOX ratings, though significantly higher, also continue to feel the blow of lower viewership after they hurt themselves during the election.
