Tensions flared at a Senate hearing on Antifa when Democrat Mazie Hirono stormed out of the room declaring she couldn’t sit through Sen. Ted Cruz‘s speeches any longer.

The public display of childishness occurred when Cruz, R-Texas, blasted Democrats for not condemning Antifa more directly for the violence and destruction that has taken hold in certain U.S. cities in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis.

But Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, said Cruz just wasn’t listening to Democrats’ condemnation of violence, before blatantly failing to condemn the violence of ANTIFA.

“Sometimes I don’t think you listen,” Hirono whined to Cruz at the Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing as he finished up with a nearly 10-minute speech.  “So, how many times have I had to say that we all should be denouncing violent extremists of every stripe.”

“Does that include Antifa?” replied Cruz.

“I have the time,” Hirono shot back.

“…I hope this is the end of this hearing, Mr. Chairman, and that we don’t have to listen to any more of your rhetorical speeches,” Hirono concluded.  “Thank you very much. I’m leaving.”

And with that, Hirono took her ball and went home.

Remember When:

Hirono made news in 2018 when her ignorance of Federal immigration law was displayed for all to see.

Hirono was questioning ICE Executive Associate Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations Matthew Albence yesterday, and Albence noted that individuals who had been held at the border were in detention centers because they’d broken the law.

Hirono countered that the illegal immigrants “have broken a law only as deemed so by [President Donald Trump].”

Albence pointed out that Trump did not create the law that criminalizes unauthorized border crossings. That law was passed by Congress in 1952.

“I’m confused,” Hirono concluded.

A well-reasoned and sensible argument in no way whatsoever, Ms. Hirono.
