Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been a beacon of hope for our federal government. After the Biden administration called DeSantis out for banning mask mandates, the media has continued to pressure the governor to lift the ban.
During a press conference Tuesday a reporter asked DeSantis if mask mandates would have helped the handful of children who are in an ICU for COVID. The governor quickly turned the question around.
“You’re blaming the kids, saying they weren’t wearing masks so they’re in the ICU. With all due respect, I find that deplorable to blame a victim who ends up being hospitalized. This has been a really negative thing throughout this whole thing, with some of these, quote, experts, some of the media. Somebody can contract a highly transmissible airborne virus and they’re viewed as having done something wrong. That’s just not the way you do it.”
The state has had a rise in the delta variant, but DeSantis reemphasized that this will not cause Florida to shut down.
