Social media demon Facebook is again attempting to exert its political will upon the American people.

The company announced Tuesday it is temporarily banning advertisements for weapons, accessories, and protective gear in response to the fallout from the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol building.

The ban will remain in place until Jan. 22, “out of an abundance of caution” amid fears that the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden will prompt right-wing extremists to engage in the kind of widespread violence that America experienced last summer in the wake of the George Floyd murder.

“We already prohibit ads for weapons, ammunition, and weapon enhancements like silencers,” the company wrote. “But we will now also prohibit ads for accessories such as gun safes, vests, and gun holsters in the US.”

As reported by “The Hill,” the FBI has issued a bulletin warning of armed protests at the U.S. Capitol and across all 50 state capitols leading up to the inauguration.

Police chiefs nationwide have been urged to remain on “high alert.”
