A new poll shows those who consume right-leaning media are dramatically better informed about facts on the key issues in the news compared to those who watch/listen to other networks.

Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute conducted a nationwide survey from April 29th to May 3rd with 2,000 likely voters. The voters ranged from 48% men and 52% women to 36% Republican, 38% Democrat, and 26% other. The ages of each voter were also taken into consideration.

The survey began by asking what kind of media the voter consumes from FOX and CNN to Radio and social media. The voter was then asked a series of questions ranging in climate-change statistics.

Jim Lakey, VP and Director of Communications for the Heartland Institute, said the results were clear.

“Time and time again listeners to conservative talk radio were more likely to get the questions correct than those who watch CNN or MSNBC or who consume passively the leftist/left-media in this country.”

One example from the survey showed that viewers of CNN and MSNBC are substantially more likely to overestimate the amount of global warming that has occurred since the late 1800s compared to viewers of Fox News or “other” outlets.

With the additional questions, Rasmussen/Heartland found several key findings including the conclusion that “there is a strong correlation between a likely voter’s favorite television news outlet and his or her understanding of basic facts about climate change.”
