Nikki Haley Announces for 2024... If You're Listening
Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley expressed disgust for former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly as she recalled a private conversation where they defended resisting President Trump, telling her they did so out of necessity.
Haley, who WIBC host Tony Katz expects to run for President in 2024, told "CBS Evening News" anchor Norah O’Donnell that she did not appreciate having the former officials confide in her, as she described in her new book, “With All Due Respect.”
"[I]nstead of saying that to me, they should've been saying that to the President, not asking me to join them on their sidebar plan," Haley said.
Haley said that the two men “confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren't being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country” and how “Tillerson went on to tell me the reason he resisted the president's decisions was because, if he didn't, people would die…."
Haley sharply disagreed.
“It should've been, 'Go tell the president what your differences are, and quit if you don't like what he's doing,'” Haley told O’Donnell. “But to undermine a president is really a very dangerous thing. And it goes against the Constitution, and it goes against what the American people want. And it was offensive."
Haley later defended President Trump with regard to the ongoing impeachment inquiry over suspicion that Trump made an attempt to strongarm Ukraine into investigating political rivals.
“You're gonna impeach a president for asking for a favor that didn't happen and giving money and it wasn't withheld? I don't know what you would impeach him on,” Haley said, later adding, "The Ukrainians never did the investigation. And the president released the funds. I mean, when you look at those, there's just nothing impeachable there."

WIBC host Tony Katz commented Monday morning on Haley's interview:
"Haley demonstrated that she is as loyal as they come to the administration, proving that she's a fighter, proving that she's not going to fall in with the crowd of resistance, guaranteeing that the people who back Trump will at least give her an honest, solid look in 2024, and frustrating Mike Pence to no end. She did it all in that one interview."
