Democratic congresswoman and disturbingly passionate climate change activist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got legitimately choked up Friday while discussing how the imminently impending end of the world has affected her personal outlook on motherhood.

“I speak to you, not as an elected official or a public figure, but I speak to you as a human being,” Ocasio-Cortez lectured attendees at a climate summit in Copenhagen. “A woman whose dreams of motherhood now taste bittersweet, because of what I know about our children’s future,” she added, choking back well-rehearsed tears.

Editor’s note: Those ‘method’ acting classes she’s been taking have really paid off, but she still needs the occasional spray of menthol in the face prior to going out on the stage.

“I speak to you as daughter and descendant of colonized peoples who have already begun to suffer,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, stealthily slipping into her best Greta Thunberg impression.

It was at this point that I stopped listening due to the sudden onset of an enormous headache in my eye.

Her depressed feelings about motherhood are understandable, however. It’s pretty hard to have a positive outlook on going through the hassle of pregnancy, birth, and hiring someone to breastfeed if we’re all going to be dead in 12 years or less.

Fortunately, WIBC host Tony Katz was willing to endure the entirety of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-Thunberg’s diatribe, as he has far more mental and emotional stamina than I do. We thank him for his personal sacrifice.
