There has been a handful of tragic train collisions across the country this past weekend. An Amtrak train in Northern California collided with a passenger vehicle after passing through an intersection without crossing gates, killing three people. On Monday, an Amtrak train derailed in Missouri killing four people and injuring at least 150.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appeared on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt to discuss solutions on how to reduce the number of train accidents in the country.

“The fewer points we have in the country where it’s even physically possible for a train and a car to collide, the safer this country will be.”

Tony Katz believes a response like this from a nation leader is a little too ‘Mr. Obvious’.

“Did you figure that out all by yourself? Or did you have a team of crack people on that? And where people do go over train tracks, is the plan now just to set up dead ends and turn them around? What a weird, childlike, pseudo-intellectual response.”
