Democrats are expressing outrage after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated that Republicans would confirm a new Supreme Court justice in 2020 if given the chance, despite refusing to do so when Barack Obama was in office during the last presidential election.

The question of what Republicans would do if their was a vacancy on the court in 2020, was posed to McConnell during a speech in his home state of Kentucky, Tuesday. "Uh, we'd fill it," McConnell replied.

In 2016, McConnell and his fellow Republicans chose not to vote on Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland, claiming that the next President should get to make that decision.

WIBC host Tony Katz covered the audio on Thursday's show.

"McConnell clearly learned from Harry Reid how to be an absolute rock in the midst of the insanity, and he was going to play as hardball as Harry Reid ever did.

He got asked the question and without even thinking, he says he'd fill it! He just said that you can't do that during an election year, and then asked the question, he says they'd fill it.

It was hard edge politics and it was something else to behold. I didn't know he had it in him."
