Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee had to explain his views on semi-automatic rifles and the Second Amendment to Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein Wednesday.
Feinstein specifically asked Kavanaugh about a dissent he wrote in a case where his colleagues on the federal appeals court upheld a ban on semi-automatic rifles in D.C. Judge Kavanaugh disagreed, saying in his dissent that semi-automatic rifles are in “common use” and protected by the Second Amendment.
“Semi-automatic rifles are widely possessed in the United States,” Judge Kavanaugh said. “That seems to fit ‘common use’ and not being a dangerous and unusual weapon.”
“You’re saying the numbers determine common use?” Feinstein asked.
“They are widely possessed in the United States, Senator, and they are used and possessed,” Judge Kavanaugh said.

“The political left always overplays their hand, and what they’ve done over the last several days at the Kavanaugh hearing is a clown show. The questions that are being directed towards Kavanaugh have reached the point of being surreal and sick, and I wonder how this will affect the midterms as a result.”
