It is summer and many of us are planning vacations to get away and relax. Portland, Oregon wants you to know they are a great spot “to be yourself.” You know, the city that’s been burning itself to the ground the last year, defunding the police, creating autonomous zones, and let’s not forget the overall crime rate skyrocketing to 500%- yeah that Portland!

After a year of utter chaos and destruction, Portland has re-branded to recruit tourists to check them out.

Travel Portland recently bought a full-page ad in The New York Times to specifically encourage local hotel and short-term rental stays from leisure travelers. The ad campaign “This is Portland” paints a picture of a place where everyone is not only welcomed, but celebrated.

The ad reads:

“You’ve heard a lot about us lately. It’s been awhile since you heard from us.

Some of what you heard about Portland is true. Some is not. What matters most is that we’re true to ourselves.

There’s a river that cuts through the middle of our town. It divides the east and west. But it’s bridged – over and over again. Twelve times, to be specific. And that’s kind of a great metaphor for this city. We’re a place of dualities that are never polarities. Two sides to the same coin that keeps landing right on its edge. Anything can happen. We like it this way.

This is the kind of place where new ideas are welcome – whether they’re creative, cutting edge or curious at first glance. You can speak up here. You can be yourself here. We have some of the loudest voices on the West Coast. And yes, passion pushes the volume all the way up. We’ve always been like this. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have faith in the future. We’re building it every day the only way we know how, by being Portland.

Come see for yourself. Love, Portland”

Tony Katz argues not everyone is welcome as they’ve proven time and time again.

“I want to know if I can go downtown Portland and say I disagree with BLM. Can I do that? Can I be myself there or not really? …They don’t mean this, they’re lying about this.”

Katz says Portland doesn’t actually care about their city. If they really want to better themselves they would spend time and money fixing their mess instead of sweeping it under a rug.

“If they cared they would do something. But they are more interested in being woke than actually doing something.”

Days before the campaign ad and promotional video released, 50 Portland Officers resigned from their voluntary positions for Rapid Response. Officials report the city’s homicide rate is 6x greater than last year with the rate of gang violence reaching higher than it has since the ’90s.

Pack your bags kids!
