Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell referenced any Republican who supported Putin as a “lonely voice” within the GOP.

McConnell appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday. The Senator commented on Ukraine’s need for direct assistance from the US as well as the belief that Ukraine could win the conflict. Host Margaret Brennan pointed out that some other members of the GOP differ that opinion, such as Rep. Madison Cawthorn who called Ukrainian President Zelensky a “thug.”

“Well, there’s some lonely voices out there that are in a different place. But looking at Senate Republicans, I can tell you that I would have, had I been the majority leader, put this Ukraine supplemental up by itself. I think virtually every one of my members would have voted for it.”

McConnell referred to the “lonely voices” as the “Putin Wing of the GOP.” Tony Katz says that label against his own party shows he is playing into the leftist games.

“If you start talking about the “Putin wing” of the GOP you’re buying into leftist talking points and buying into leftist talking points doesn’t do you any good.”

Katz argued that McConnell should’ve also specified that the Republican Party is for the Ukrainian people surviving and winning the overall conflict, but they are not for the country itself.
