Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed concern before a group of reporters last week that the Trump administration could “bumble into a war” with Iran, adding that Democrats believe there must be Congressional approval to fund any conflict with Iran.
“I told the president that these conflicts have a way of escalating," said Schumer. "The president may not intend to go to war here, but we’re worried that he and the administration may bumble into a war. We told the room that the Democratic position is that Congressional approval must be required before funding any conflict in Iran.”
WIBC host Tony Katz played the audio of Sen. Schumer's remarks Tuesday, calling them treasonous.
"I'm calling it treason. You tell me what you would call it? The defense is that it's 'just talk.' Are we sure? I wouldn't have stood for it under the Obama administration. Why would anybody stand for it now? Are we all so desperate to score some kind of cheap ass political point that we'll basically go down the road of providing aid and comfort to the enemy?"
"...Treason involves providing aid and comfort to the enemy. What else is this? What else would you call this?"
"They hate Donald Trump so much that they'll say he's bumbling into war when he hasn't even brought us anywhere near war, and 'how dare he take credit for not attacking when it was him who decided not to respond with any level of attack on Iran, and it's America's fault anyway.'"
"This is the Democratic leadership of today. And you wonder why I'm not a democrat?"
