State Senator Greg Taylor Responds to Tony Katz on House Bill SB203
Wednesday evening, WIBC host Tony Katz alerted his audience that Democratic State Senator Greg Taylor, who represents part of Indianapolis, has proposed legislation that would prevent the sale of a gun to anyone under 21 years of age. The bill would also limit firearm magazines to only 10 rounds.
As noted by Katz, the bill reads in part:
Firearms. Prohibits the: (1) sale; (2) trade; or (3) transfer; of a regulated weapon to a person less than 21 years of age. Provides that a dealer or person who knowingly or intentionally: (1) sells; (2) trades; or (3) transfers; a regulated weapon to a person less than 21 years of age commits a Level 6 felony. Provides certain defenses. Prohibits a person from possessing, selling, or offering for sale a magazine or similar device for a firearm with a capacity of more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
Katz noted that the bill would also regulate where you can carry a firearm.
Sen. Taylor's legislation comes on the heels of an attempt in the state of Virginia to limit its citizens' right to own and carry a firearm, which was met with outrage and the passage of a resolution in Virginia Beach to declare itself a Second Amendment sanctuary.
Following an informal invitation from Tony, Sen. Taylor called into the show Thursday morning to answer questions and defend his proposed legislation. Things remained civil but teetered on the edge of tense throughout much of the discussion.
