Jennifer Messer, the wife of Indiana Congressman Luke Messer has been the subject of criticism amid media reports that the city of Fishers, Indiana pays her $240,000-a-year for doing part-time legal consulting.
I'm obviously proud of my wife; she does great work for the city, which as your listeners know is a booming community with all kinds of economic development jobs. And she's a private lawyer that has a law practice and private clients. So sure, she's the brains of the operation, she's well paid for what she does, I'm very proud of her. But the people she works with in Fishers are proud of her as well.
Congressman Messer also refuted reports that he does not own a home in the state of Indiana.
...I own a home in Greensburg, Indiana that I've owned for 16 years. It's actually a home that I do own with my mother. I purchased it with her before I was ever married. My mom never owned a home, so before I was married I purchased it with her. And that's where I live when I'm back in the state. We split the cost of that home, and that's my residence in Indiana.
